Jayne introduced us to the work of Guide Dogs which now has approximately 5,000 dogs working at any one time.
Guide Dogs supports both adults and children with sight loss, and also provides sighted guides for the visually impaired. Jayne explained how guide dogs and their prospective owners are trained to work together. We heard Irene’s very moving story and met Pearl, her dog and winner of the Golden Bone award, and learned about Eccles and his second career as a sniffer dog at Manchester Airport.
