As WI members who have previously supported, or attended, an exclusive WI event at the National Gallery, I am delighted to send you information of the next event – this time, in person at the Gallery or virtual, using Zoom, the choice is yours…
‘Penning the Picture’
Join us at the Sainsbury Wing Theatre in the National Gallery, London (members only) or virtually on Zoom on Friday 26 November 2021, 11am – 4pm.
Discover how National Gallery paintings have formed the inspiration behind fiction and poetry and gain tips for getting your own creative juices flowing in response to artworks. Hear from National Gallery experts, professional fiction-writers and poets, learn about Artemisia’s Self Portrait as Saint Catherine the painting behind this year’s Lady Denman Cup and hear the winning entries performed by WI members.

Telephone Befriending Request |
Omega is a charity that supports older people in various ways. I work for Chatterbox which is a telephone befriending service. We currently have more clients on our waiting list than we have volunteer befrienders, so I wonder if you would be able to help by maybe promoting us in your newsletter? I would be able to send you more information if you are interested. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thank you in anticipation of your assistance.

Survey about Violence Against Women
The Kent Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Scott has launched his Inquiry into violence against women and girls – more commonly known as VAWG. One part of that inquiry is a survey to understand the strength of feeling of women and girls in Kent. It includes their views on feelings of safety, ideas on how to make them feel safer, any experiences of these crimes and subsequent journey through the criminal justice system etc. It would be remiss of me not to share this survey with hundreds of women who are a part of WIs across Kent. I have provided a link below, so you are welcome to peruse the survey before making any decisions. Let me know if this is something we would be able to share with your colleagues/family members/friends. Maybe in a newsletter or a link on social media? Or a section on your websites? www.makingkentsafer.co.uk (This URL will go straight to the survey but you may need to copy and paste into the search bar if it doesn’t have a hyperlink on it). Kind regards, Elliott Fitzsimmons External Engagement Officer
