Summer in the City – A Guided Walk with Jenny and Elaine

Jenny and Elaine took us on a thoroughly enjoyable walk through the City of London on a perfect summer’s evening for walking.  Starting at St Paul’s Cathedral and the statue of Queen Anne, our stops included Paternoster Square and Temple Bar, Cutlers’ Hall, Old Bailey, St Sepulchre’s, the lovely gardens of Christchurch Greyfriars, Postman’s Park, the old Roman city walls and the Guildhall.  We met new people such as John Heminge and Henry Condell in the former churchyard of St Mary of Aldermanbury, the heroes of Postman’s Park and a passing group of Wax Chandlers in their finery, as well as learning so much about the City on our doorstep.

July meeting – origami with Drew Sinclair

We had a lovely evening with Drew Sinclair who taught us all about the Japanese art of paper folding – origami.   Drew told us about the  benefits of origami which include patience and a sense of peace and mindfulness and we certainly discovered these for ourselves as we folded our pretty paper squares into Japanese… Continue reading
