Tonight’s October meeting is the last chance to sign up for our guided tour through the ‘new’ European Galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum, which opened in February 2016, after four years creative effort. The tour is on Saturday 3rd November and our guide will be Hilary Gaster, who was our guide for the Dulwich Picture Gallery and Courtauld Gallery trips.
Hilary’s tour begins with magnificent Catholic Baroque, then looks at the Protestant Netherlands, then lighter Rococo styles and finally Neo-Classicism. On the way we look at Cabinets of Curiosities and the rise of the great ceramic factories of Meissen and Sevres.
Entry to the museum is free, The price of guided tour is £6 per person (payable in advance please). We are planning 2 time slots should we have more than 15 people – 11am and 1pm. Each tour will be around 75 minutes. Partners are welcome too.
