January Meeting – Malcolm Jones – 1930s Glamour and Grime

In January, we were treated to a visit by arts and theatre lecturer, Malcolm Jones MA.  Malcolm’s talk ‘1930s Glamour and Grime’ gave us an insight into the theatre scene of the ‘30s; from the glamour and escapism of Ivor Novello and Noel Coward in the West End to the working class theatre movement of the Unity Theatre and Joan Littlewood & Ewan McColl’s Theatre Workshop.   Malcolm’s talk was peppered with excellent stories and anecdotes and was equally entertaining for both regular theatre-goers and once-a-year-panto trippers alike.
