From left to right, sweet woodruff, gladiolus ‘The Bride’ and thyme, a few of the plants mentioned by Joanna in her talk
We welcomed back garden designer Joanna Herald as our speaker at our July meeting. Joanna has been designing gardens for nearly 20 years and was one of the start-up team behind Hortus in Blackheath. This was a well-timed talk for July after the June heatwave and the other weather related challenges of the past year during which many of our gardens struggled. Joanna’s inspirational talk covered soil management, irrigation, and planting tips to help us enjoy our gardens but with less water and this was followed by an informal gardener’s question time as we bombarded her with questions about our gardening trials and tribulations! Joanna also brought along some lovely plants which were very enthusiastically purchased by members.
Thanks for a great talk this evening and, as usual the NICEST ladies in the area!
A big thank you to the refreshments team for wonderful cakes and professional standard clearing up afterwards!
