It was a gorgeous sunny evening, very peaceful with birdsong, rustling leaves on the trees around the green, the clunk of bowls … and much chat and debate about style and tactics
For the second year running, on another lovely summer’s evening, about 20 members of Lee Green WI attended a Bowls Taster session hosted by the wonderfully patient ladies of Blackheath & Greenwich Bowling Club in the leafy paradise of the Cator Estate. We were inducted into the rules and strategies of bowling, played a few moderately competitive games (a few of our members are really very promising) and were offered tea, poured in the traditional way from big teapots, and Mr Kipling’s jam tarts afterwards. We are really grateful to the Club for their hospitality and hopeful that one of our ladies may one day reward them by becoming a champion bowler.
