We spent a fabulous evening with Ian as he cantered through his encounters with those who have made an impact and influenced him throughout his life. Ian started us all thinking about who from history we would most like to meet – a particular shout out to Ruth who nominated Richard III and Noel Coward!
Ian went on to tell us how people such as George Michael, Tom Robinson, David Bowie and Ian McKellen changed his life and who now feature in his book “A Marvellous Party”. This is a collection of stories of a young man’s escape from 70’s suburban Surrey, surviving disapproval both at home and at school, before finding his way towards the public and private life of which he had always dreamed, and then being blessed with the opportunity to personally thank the heroes and heroines who led him there.
