We have finalised details of our trip to our ‘local’ vineyard – our nearest commecial vineyard in Kent. This is a visit on Saturday June 7th to Meopham Valley Vineyard, based near Wrotham on the North Downs.
Established in 1991 by David and Pauline Grey they produce sparkling wines using Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and also still wines using hybrid grapes. Some of their wines are listed by Waitrose and they have won many awards for them.
We will be the only group visiting on the day and David has kindly agreed for us to picnic in the vineyard after the tour and tasting. Provided that any alcohol we drink is his – which you will be able to purchase there! We shall be tasting six of his wines.
For more details about Meopham, you can check out their website:
We will leave from Trinity School at 9.15am to arrive at Meopham for 10.00am for the tour and tasting. This should last an hour and a half to two hours. The coach will depart from Meopham at 2.00pm for a return to Trinity by 3.00pm.Cost per person for the tour and coach is £25.Because June is a busy month – re coach hire – we need to commit to a coach and its size by the end of March. Please therefore if you are interested let Carolyn know as soon as possible.Carolyn will be at the next WI meeting on Thursday 20th to provide any further information and answer any questions you may have.
