The Behind the Scenes tour at the new Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre was a great hit on Friday 9th August.
The tour gave us the chance to see fabulous hidden treasures that aren’t on display due to space limitations in the Maritime museum, and to watch the conservators at work in their state of the art studios. We also selected some items for display at the forthcoming Heritage Open Days coming up in September; our items have a particular focus on women and we think we included some excellent things. Interestingly, there are more paintings of cats than women in the Maritime collection!
