Our January 2025 Meeting – The ABC of Annabel Dott: Architect, Builder and Clerk of Works

Date: January 16, 2025
Time: 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Location: Brindishe Lee Primary School, Effingham Road, Lee, SE12 8NA
Sarah Francis Annabelle Hall was a self taught architect cum builder and clerk of works who did not realise her potential until after her marriage to a clergyman, Patrick Dott in 1905.  In spite of having to support her husband in his work and of living in five very different places she funded and designed two housing schemes as well as a number of smaller renovation and building projects. At one point she took on the might of Eton College.  At least as remarkable was her outpouring of writing during 1918 about how to design to save the housewife labour and how to provide for disabled officers of the war.  Also of importance was her ability as a self-publicist.
Doors open at 7.15 pm
