Tour of Lesnes Abbey

Date: March 18, 2023
Time: 11:00 am

A private tour of Lesnes Abbey with Chris Hawkins.  Lesnes Abbey was founded in 1178 by Richard de Luci as penance for his part in the murder of Thomas a Becket. The Abbey owned a large estate including the marshland on which Thamesmead now stands.  Closed in 1525, the Abbey is now in ruins, a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade II listed and is managed by Bexley Council.  The visit is free to members.  Find out more about Lesnes Abbey here.
