We will be welcoming Chris Turant, a former officer with the Metropolitan Police.
Chris joined the Metropolitan Police in 1975 training as a Scenes of Crimes Officer (SOCO) and working in central, north and north west London. During his 38½ years he examined over 25,000 crime scenes ranging from shop-lifting to murder. When he started examining crime scenes DNA was in its embryonic stage.
Chris is going to talk to us about Digital Forensics – Who’s watching you. Chris’ talk is wide ranging and covers the use of CCTV to catch criminals, tell us about internet child pornographer captures and scam calls from criminals. He will include the murder of Sarah Everard and how scammers try to trick victims out of their money. He will also tell us how the police triangulate the position of suspects using their mobile phones.
