May Meeting – Amarachi from Lucocoa & AGM

Date: May 18, 2023
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Location: Brindishe Lee Primary School, Effingham Road entrance, SE12 8NA

A talk all about chocolate and better still … some tasting!

In May our speaker is Amarachi Clarke, founder of Lucocoa, London’s first Bean to Bar Chocolate Maker. We will be sampling several bars of Lucocoa chocolate at the meeting and learning all about the company’s ethos and production.

Amarachi is a proud chocolate crusader and activist. In 2015, she began exploring her curiosity and passion for the chocolate-making process. She is wholeheartedly dedicated to making delicious chocolate while revolutionising ethical, fair, and sustainable practices within the cocoa industry.

At Lucocoa, chocolate is made by hand, from scratch, by importing the best beans from around the world and turning them into chocolate in their factory in Bermondsey, Southeast London.  As the chief chocolate maker, Amarachi takes time to understand the beans, learning when it is the right time and temperature to roast them and then how long to grind the beans on stone rollers. The chocolate takes three days to make.

Please note that to cover the costs of the meeting this month, visitors will be charged an extra £5 on top of the £5 visitor fee.  First time visitors will be charged £5.  There will be no charge for members or those renewing their membership at this month’s meeting.
