Change of date for April meeting plus a trial Zoom session.

This is normally the point in the month we would be sending you the details for our next monthly WI meeting at Trinity School. Even though we are not able to gather in person for our meeting, we remain undaunted! With the aid of technology we hope to bring this month’s scheduled speaker (the marvellous author, Duncan Barrett) to your homes. To avoid clashing with the BBC Big Night In, we have moved our meeting to Thursday 30th April and it will start at 8.15pm, just after the clap for the NHS and key workers. We very much hope you will be able to make this new date.

The committee have done a trial run using Zoom and it was pretty successful so we would like to get as many of you as possible to join us for a virtual WI meeting on a date to be confirmed. We will of course talk you through the process, step by step, and to ensure we’re all up and running and ready for action on the 30th we thought we would have a dress rehearsal at 7pm on 21st April. You will need to have either a lap top, iPad or smart phone. We will send over a link for you to access the meeting in advance, but not too far in advance so it doesn’t disappear into the depths of your inbox.
Kath is going to put some Zoom guidance on the website, and Gail Treves-Brown has created a handy guide which you will also find on our website. If you don’t have access to our website, please email Caroline Powell (cstpowell@btinernet.com) and ask for the Zoom guidance notes to be sent to you by email.
So, two dates for your diary – 7pm on 21st April for a trial Zoom session, and 8.15pm on Thursday 30th April for Duncan’s talk:
‘When The Germans Came’ based on a hundred interviews with Channel Islanders who lived through the Occupation during WW2.
