At the March meeting last Thursday, we announced details of the forthcoming Bordeaux wine tasting evening on Friday 27th April – we will be sampling 6 different wines from the Bordeaux region (white, red & rose) and will guided along the way by our very own Wine Educator & Writer, Carolyn Bosworth Davies. The evening will be held at Old Colfeians Rugby Club, Eltham Road – doors will open at 7pm and the wine tasting will begin at 7.30pm. The club bar will be open both before and after the wine tasting and please do feel free to bring along cheese or any other savoury snacks that you would like, to enhance your sampling pleasure! Tickets for the evening are just £15 per head but they are selling fast…..If you would like come along and haven’t yet got your ticket, please do contact Carolyn (Carolyn_bosworth@yahoo.co.uk) to secure your place. We are limited for space but will set up a waiting list if we go over our allocated numbers. Priority will be given to full WI members.
Many thanks for your continued support for Lee Green WI and we look forward to seeing you there!
This Tour is sold out with a waiting list.
Private tour of Impressionists and Post-Impressionists galleries at The Courtauld. Time to be confirmed, expect late morning. Tour to last around 1 hr 15 mins.
Cost will be £6 entrance to gallery plus £5 directly to tour guide, Hilary Gaster for the tour. Members with Art Pass will not have to pay the gallery part but please let us know as we need to fill a form in. We have asked for us to pay on the day.
Will start to take email addresses of interested members at March meeting and then again (and hopefully to finalise) at April meeting after which we will send the booking form to the Courtauld.
We need a minimum of 10 to make it work. Hilary suggests no more than 12 per party due to size of gallery (but can do 2 sessions). Hope that makes sense! Other halves/friends welcome. We will find a nice place for lunch!
As usual our May meeting starts with a romp through our year and some WI business, and will be followed by a fun activity.
Come and learn some basic first aid techniques with paramedic John Donaghy in a hands-on session. You never know – it might save someone’s life!
Confidence expert Andy Coley will be giving his thoughts and techniques for building your confidence
Ever wondered what the Brazilian martial art Capoeira was all about? Hannah Prytherch will be throwing a few moves and teaching us some. Dress flexible!
Tom Gillmor from Blackheath’s Mary Evans Picture Library talks about the collection
with Jane Beedle, finalist from the 2017 Great British Bake Off, who will talking about how she got to Bake Off from running a gardening business, the Bake Off experience and since. She’ll also show off a quick cake icing technique
Please note this is not the third Thursday of month as it falls too close to Christmas.
